International Federation for Choral Music
The International Federation for Choral Music ( IFCM , German International Association for Choral Music ) is an international association that was founded in 1982 to facilitate communication and exchange between choral musicians worldwide.
IFCM has more than 2,000 members from all continents, including individuals, choirs, organizations or companies. The majority of all choir singers worldwide are members of the IFCM through membership in a choir affiliated to the IFCM or another affiliated organization. IFCM is the official representative of choral music in the UNESCO International Music Council .
The IFCM was founded by seven national and international choir organizations from five continents. These are:
- The American Choral Directors Association (ACDA)
- A Coeur Joie International (France)
- Association of European Choir Associations (Europe)
- Asociación Interamericana de Directores de Coros (Latin America)
- Europa Cantat - Federation Européenne des Jeunes Chorales (Europe)
- Japan Choral Association (Japan)
- Nordisk Korforum - (Scandinavia)
