The International Federation of Model Auto Racing (IFMAR) is the world's top sports association in racing with radio-controlled cars . It was founded on July 9, 1979.
The association defines international regulations and awards the organization of the world championships for radio-controlled cars.
Members are four blocks that represent regional interests in model sport. These are:
- Far East Model Car Association (FEMCA) - Australasia and Asia .
- Remotely Operated Auto Racers (ROAR) - Canada and USA
- Fourth Association of Model Auto Racing (FAMAR) - Argentina , Brazil , Colombia , Mexico , South Africa , Uruguay , Chile and Venezuela .
World championships
World champions in RC sport have been crowned since 1977. Titles are awarded in different classes. In contrast to the European championships, world championships in the respective classes are only held every two years.
The following titles are currently being awarded:
- 1: 5 combustion touring car
- 1: 8 burners smooth track
- 1: 8 combustion off-road
- 1:10 burners on the smooth track
- 1:10 electric on-road
- 1:10 electric off-road 2WD and 4WD
- 1:12 electric smooth track
