Supremacy 1914 is an online real-time strategy game from the Hamburg-based manufacturer Bytro Labs , which is distributed by Bigpoint and Gamigo , among others .

action

In this game, the objective is the pros and world domination to earn. It ends when a certain number of points is reached, which can be set for each game. You can choose from 1000 and 1500 points - the total score of all players in the game is always 2000 - as well as "Supremacy", the destruction of all other players. Furthermore, a game can also be ended by a joint decision of all still active players if only a maximum of three players remain in the game. This makes it possible to end a game together with your alliance partners.

There are also nine cards with different scenarios, numbers of players and, in some cases, different playable countries. For example, Finland or Norway can be played on the 30-player map , while those belong to Denmark or Sweden on the 10-player map .

Business model

Supremacy 1914 uses a free-to-play business model, which means it is basically free to play. However, there is so-called premium content that can be purchased for real money and gives the player advantages compared to playing without money. It is possible for the premium player as a "member of the army command" to queue for unit production or the erection of buildings so that they do not have to be online at the beginning of the campaign. Additional units or raw materials as well as reductions in construction and production times can also be purchased. The premium offer is not mandatory and does not have to be maintained.

Gameplay

In Supremacy 1914 , each player takes control of a country that consists of several provinces. Each province produces one of the raw materials. In addition, ten infantry units are available in each province at the start of the game . More will be added as the game progresses.

As long as a country does not have a human player, the computer takes over the country as a non-player character . As long as a computer controls a country, its units are defensive. The computer cannot start an aggressive style of play on its own. There are also countries that are only controlled by the computer. These are smaller than the lands designated for human gamers.

Supremacy 1914 is a real-time strategy game . The players do not have to be online, the game continues without the presence of the player. Each action, such as building buildings or moving units, is assigned a time frame. Actions can be carried out in parallel. As in Call of War, you can found an alliance in the game , in which friends and others can play together and compete with other alliances. Every player can be found in the ranking list . Conquests, number of games, etc. are scored.

reception

The online magazine GIGA emphasized that the complex AI of the game offers appealing game rounds even with a small number of participants. Computerspiele.com noticed the content of the computer game Hearts of Iron , but saw Supremacy 1914 in the browser games segment "clearly (as) one of the best and most innovative [...] games of recent years". The game magazine Gamezone emphasized that Supremacy 1914 was one of the very few browser games that dealt with the topic of World War I, but also referred to previously published single-player computer games with similar content.

Awards

In 2009, Supremacy 1914 won the audience award in the Browser Game of the Year competition, which has been taking place since 2005 .
