International Manufacturing Technology Show

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Manufacturing Technology Show ( IMTS ) is the largest manufacturing technology show in North America. The organizer and organizer of the IMTS is the Association for Manufacturing Technology, the industry association of manufacturing technology companies in the USA. The venue is McCormick Place in Chicago , the largest exhibition and event center in North America.

The origins of the IMTS lie in the National Machine Tool Builders' Exposition, held in Cleveland, Ohio in 1927, 1927, and 1935. After an interruption due to the war, the event was continued in Chicago from 1947.

The IMTS currently takes place every two years. An agreement between the AMT and the CECIMO (Comité de coopération des industries de la machine-outil), the organizer of the European-based EMO trade fair for the metalworking industry, coordinates the dates of the IMTS and the EMO. In years with an even number, the IMTS takes place in Chicago, in years with an odd number, the EMO in Europe.

The IMTS lasts six days and attracts visitors and exhibitors from the USA as well as many international exhibitors and visitors. The IMTS 2014 had 114,147 registered visitors and 2,035 exhibitors. The participants came from 112 countries.

The "Emerging Technologies Center" has existed as part of IMTS since 2004. Here universities and research laboratories present "technologies of the future". For example, Local Motors generated a lot of interest and a large international media response in 2014 with the 3D printing of the entire chassis of a Strati in just 44 hours.
