IMDG code
The IMDG code ( International Maritime Code for Dangerous Goods ) is the regulation for the carriage of dangerous goods by sea . It is a draft of the International Maritime Organization (IMO, International Maritime Organization of the United Nations ). It supplements the provisions of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea ( SOLAS ) of 1974 , in particular Chapter VII thereof.
The IMDG code is largely identical to the labeling according to ADR / RID for road and rail: It uses the dangerous goods classes and the UN numbers :
- Example: IMDG 6.1 / I UN 1889
- Class 6.1 Toxic substances
- UN 1889 = cyanogen bromide
In the Federal Republic of Germany , the IMDG code is part of the GGVSee . The class, packing group and UN number are given . The information corresponds to the 25th Amendment, unless there are deviating or further provisions of the GGVSee.
