International Society for Education through Art

The International Society for Education through Art ( InSEA ) is an international association founded in 1951 to promote cultural education, aesthetic education and the exploration of art.

history

InSEA was founded in 1951 during a seminar on arts education held in Bristol under the auspices of UNESCO . The seminar, entitled The Visual Arts in General Education, was attended by 20 nations. The first constitution was written in Paris in 1954. The first president was Edwin Ziegfeld . In 1963, a treaty granted InSEA the status of a consultative organization to UNESCO. In the same year it merged with the FEA (Fédération Internationale pour l'Éducation Artistique), an international association for art education founded in Bern in 1904

Others

InSEA publishes the International Journal of Education Through Art, which appears three times a year .

The Association of German Art Teachers is a member of the International Society for Education through Art.
