International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics

The International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics (ISSI) is an international specialist society whose aim is to improve the communication and exchange of information among scientists working in scientometrics , informetrics , bibliometrics , technometrics and webometrics as well as research and teaching in these areas. In addition, the company wants to contribute to the further development of the theory and practice of quantitative science research, as well as mathematical and statistical analyzes and the modeling of information processes.

The society was founded in September 1993 in Berlin at the 4th International Conference on Bibliometrics, Informetrics and Scientometrics . Since then, these biennial conferences have been organized by ISSI. Until the end of 2015, Ronald Rousseau was chairman ("President") of the society, which includes scientists from around 30 countries. Cassidy Sugimoto of Indiana University Bloomington has been Chair of ISSI since 2016 .

The company publishes the ISSI Newsletter as an e-zine ( webzine ) every quarter .
