The International Society of Organbuilders (ISO) is an international association of organ builders .

History and goals

The ISO was founded in Amsterdam in 1957 . Its objectives are the promotion of specialist knowledge and the exchange of information in the field of organ building. More than 300 organ builders from 36 countries are members of the association.

Every two years, one-week congresses are held at changing locations, which serve to get to know the respective organ culture and the organ builders of the respective country. The venues in recent years have been Madrid (2006), Amsterdam (2007), Danzig and Stralsund (2008), Montreal (2010), Switzerland (2012), Transylvania  (2014) and London (2016).

Publications

The trade journal ISO Journal has been published three times a year since 1998, with articles in English, French and German. The forerunners of the magazine were the irregularly published ISO-Information from 1969 to 1990 and the ISO news from 1991 to 1997 .
