Tropis

Tropis ( ancient Greek τρόπις " ship's keel ") is a series of conference proceedings on ancient shipbuilding . The series publishes the contributions to a series of interdisciplinary symposia called the International Symposium on Ship Construction in Antiquity , which were held at irregular intervals from 1985 to 2008 by the Hellenic Institute for the Preservation of Nautical Tradition and in which international underwater archaeologists , classical archaeologists and other scientists took part . The contributions are mainly written in English or French. Tropis is edited by Harry Tzalas , President of the Institute, and is partially funded by the Greek Ministry of Culture. Volumes I to VII have been published so far, Volumes VIII to X have not yet been published.
