International Toy Library Association

The International Toy Library Association (ITLA) is an international organization of toy and toy libraries . It was founded in Turin in 1990 during the 5th International Conference of Toy Libraries as a non-profit organization ( non-profit organization ) to promote international cooperation between game libraries .

History and activities

The decision to found an international organization to network the worldwide toy libraries and toy libraries was made in May 1987 during the 4th International Conference of Toy Libraries in Toronto , Canada. It was founded in 1990 in Torino, and the organization is registered as a non-profit organization in Belgium .

Networking

The main goal of the association is to network toy libraries worldwide. The ITLA organizes regular conferences every three years, the location of which varies. The first events were organized by national associations, and the ITLA has been responsible for the organization since it was founded. In 1993, a joint conference with the International Play Organization (IPO) took place for the first time . The “World Play Summit” in Melbourne combined the 6th International Conference of Toy Libraries with the 12th World Conference of the International International Play Organization.

World game day

1999 of the ITLA the World Play Day , the "World Play Day", launched the each committed to date on 28 May and the UNESCO supported. Since 2008, the German Children's Fund has been coordinating the activities of World Game Day in German-speaking countries .
