The International Water Management Institute ( IWMI ) is an international research institute whose aim is to improve the management of land and water resources with regard to food security , poverty and the environment. IWMI was founded in 1985 and is one of the 15 institutes of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research . The head office is in Colombo , there are also locations in 10 Asian and African countries.
