International sales fair

The International Promotional Goods and Import Fair (IAW) on the Cologne exhibition grounds is a consumer goods fair for promotional goods . It is aimed exclusively at trade visitors. The organizer is the Nordwestdeutsche Messegesellschaft. The IAW trade fair took place for the first time in spring 2005, making it the first international trade fair for special offers in Germany.

Twice a year, in spring and autumn, around 350 exhibitors show the approximately 9,000 trade visitors (as of September 2019) at the IAW promotional goods for the following areas on around 30,000 square meters of exhibition space :

  • Textiles and clothing
  • Housewares and office supplies
  • toy
  • Seasonal and trend products
  • Electronics, computers and accessories
  • DIY supplies and hardware
  • Small furniture and accessories
  • Gift items, jewelry and watches
  • Services, e-commerce
  • Garden products
  • flowers and plants
  • Sports and leisure articles
  • Pet supplies
  • Private label / own brands

The E-Commerce Arena and the IAW Trend Forum are an integral part of the IAW. Together, both forums offer a supporting program for digital and stationary retail. Topics are, for example, online marketplaces, e-commerce trends, marketing, multichannel or stationary trade. The workshops and lectures are free for all trade fair visitors. The “e-commerce quarter” is also located around the e-commerce arena, a special exhibition area that brings together system and service providers for digital trade. In addition, the IAW Trendseller Product Awards will be presented as part of the Trend Forum. A jury from market research , advertising and trade selects products and innovations that are believed to have particularly good market opportunities. Target groups of the IAW are buyers from online commerce, hypermarkets , discount stores, supermarket chains, purchasing organizations, mail order and individual retailers , furniture stores and hardware stores.
