The International Judo Federation (German International Judo Federation ), short IJF is a non-profit organization based in Lausanne ( Switzerland ), the national and continental judo together includes dressings. The task of the IJF is to set the rules for international tournaments and to ensure that they are observed.

The goals that the IJF has set for itself are:

  • Support of relationships and cooperation between the individual associations
  • Representing the interests of judo on an international level
  • Organization of / assistance in events in connection with the sport of judo
  • Improvement of judo training and the international level
  • Development of rules intended to improve the sport of judo

controversy

On September 18, 2019, the International Judo Federation imposed a protective ban on Iran because the country repeatedly eliminates athletes from tournaments in order to avoid Israeli opponents. Incidents at the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo were decisive . Due to the protective barrier, Iran is temporarily excluded from all competitions as well as administrative and social activities of the international association. On October 22, 2019, the temporary ban was converted into an unlimited exclusion from the competitions.
