International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf ( English International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf , shortly ICCC ) is a 1989 taking place competition for chamber choirs . It is held every two years at Whitsun in Marktoberdorf in Bavaria . Since the foundation, around 200 choirs from more than 40 countries have presented themselves here (as of 2011).

The founder of the competition was Dolf Rabus, who was responsible for the Federal Association of German Choir Associations (BDC) from the foundation until 2017 . Subsequently, the newly founded support association MODfestivals eV took over the BDC or, since 2019, its successor, the Bundesmusikverband Chor & Orchester , but is still the ideal sponsor.

The first patron in 1989 was the then Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker . In 2011, Bernd Neumann , Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media , was the patron of the competition.

The ICCC is a member of the Choral Festival Network.
