The first international ice hockey tournament in Berlin was organized by the Berlin Ice Skating Club in the Berlin Ice Palace , which opened in early September 1908. It took place from November 3rd to 5th, 1908 with five teams, playing two halves of the game of 20 minutes each. It was the first tournament with international teams in the history of ice hockey.
At the same time, a figure skating competition took place, whose men's competition was won by Ulrich Salchow .

The winning team consisted of goalkeeper Tom Cannon, defenders Peter Patton (C) and Thomas Unite, the rover Harold Duden and strikers William Duden, HA Lawford and CB Mundey.
