International Year of Deserts and Desertification
The year 2006 was used by the United Nations for the International Year of Deserts and Desertification explained.
The choice fell on 2006 because this year marks the tenth anniversary of the entry into force of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification .
The aim is to desert areas of the world and in particular the problem of desertification ( desertification to draw attention).
