Internet business cluster

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Internet Business Cluster eV (IBC eV) association is a cooperation between universities - Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich (LMU) and University of Regensburg (UR) - and companies from the Munich region with a focus on digital change.

aims

The IBC was founded in April 2011 with the aim of promoting the topic of digitization in the Munich area and connecting science, business and practice. The basis for this is the intensive networking of partner companies and participating university institutes on current topics in the digital industry. Another important aspect of the association are practical research topics that are being promoted from within the IBC.

organization

IBC eV consists of an association of university institutes and partner companies that want to strengthen Munich as a location in the field of digitization through their networking.

The Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich is represented by the Institute for Information Systems and New Media (WIM / Hess), the Institute for Electronic Commerce and Digital Markets (ECM / Spann) and the Professorship for Internet Business and Internet Services (IBIS / Kranz) . The University of Regensburg is active in the IBC through the Chair for Innovation and Technology Management / Dowling.

In addition, six companies from the German Internet industry are currently involved in the association: Hubert Burda Media, GEMA, the Hoffmann Group, HSE24, Messe München and Publicis Sapient.

research

As digitization progresses, the framework conditions and business models of classic companies and many other providers of products and services for customers are changing. This gives rise to new questions:

· How do you develop promising business models?

· How do established business models have to be adapted?

From these questions, in turn, practice-relevant research projects can be derived with a focus on digital business models.

In addition, the IBC promotes the transfer of knowledge from companies to universities by holding regular guest lectures at universities as well as student project work in cooperation with the IBC companies.

THINK DIGITAL scholarship

In 2018 the IBC eV initiated the first German digital scholarship "THINK DIGITAL" together with numerous funding companies. The scholarship is designed for twelve months and is aimed at students from the Munich region. Particularly talented scholarship holders with advanced knowledge in the digital field (studies or practical work, e.g. in a start-up) should be supported. The first class was welcomed by Digital Minister Judith Gerlach, who has taken on the patronage of the THINK DIGITAL scholarship.
