intonation

The intonation is a term in the music and in the phonetics .

Music:

  • the tuning of the pitch, especially for string, plucked and wind instruments as well as for singing,
  • the short introduction to a piece of music,
  • Intonation (keyboard instruments) , the coordination of volume and timbre of keyboard instruments, especially the difficult and labor-intensive balancing of sounds in pianos, grand pianos and organ pipes .
  • Psalmody , the melodic beginning of each psalm tone before the recitation tone.
