Intracom is a software and telecommunications company from Athens .
history
The company was founded by Sokrates Kokkalis after his emigration from the GDR in 1977 and played an important role in the transfer of technology to the Eastern Bloc , later the betting and lottery systems area was spun off into the new company Intralot .
Corporate structure
Intracom Telecom is the largest Greek manufacturer of telecommunications products, offering software, hardware and complete facilities. In June 2006 it was taken over by Sitronics and is now their telecommunications division, while Intracom Holding remains a minority shareholder with 49%. The company is 51% owned by the Russian Sitronics group and employs 2,600 people, 68% of them in research and development. Intracom Defense Electronics manufactures military communication systems, hellas online is an internet provider, Intrakat is a construction company.
