Intussusception
Invagination is a term used in biology and medicine. It is used to describe the invagination of one component into another. In detail, intussusception describes:
- in cell biology
- Inversion of the cell membrane (example phagocytosis )
- Invagination of the nuclear membrane
- a segment of gastrulation , part of embryonic development
- the telescopic invagination of individual intestinal sections into one another, see intussusception (medicine)
- Inversion of the ocular vesicles to the eye cup in the embryonic development of vertebrates
- In paediatrics (synonym: intussusception), a pathological invagination of one section of the intestine into another.
