Disability pension according to GDR law

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Disability pensions were given to those insured in the GDR who were disabled within the meaning of the GDR pension law and who met certain insurance requirements.

Disabled persons were those whose performance and earnings were reduced by at least two thirds due to illness, accident or other mental or physical damage and no change was expected in the foreseeable future. Another requirement was the completion of the 18th year of life.

The disability pensions paid on December 31, 1991 were revalued in January 1992 and from that time onwards were paid as disability pension or disability pension . The special disability pensions due to disability will continue to be paid at the previous level. If the state of health improves and the incapacity for work no longer persists, a disability pension may also be canceled under GDR law.

If retirement began by December 31, 1996, the new federal states had the option of receiving a disability pension analogous to the old GDR law within the framework of the protection of legitimate expectations under the Pension Transition Act.
