from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The inventory of found coins of Switzerland ( IFS ) is a documentation and information center in which the numismatic sources - coin finds and relevant documents - of Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein are recorded and documented. The seat is in Bern .

IFS is a company of the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (SAGW) and was founded in 1992.

tasks

The IFS coordinates the documentation of all coin finds in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. To this end, it works closely with the cantonal authorities, which are responsible for the artefacts in their respective areas (according to Art. 724 ZGB ). The focus of the inventory of found coins in Switzerland is mediation and knowledge transfer between specialists and the general public. Another focus is the promotion of young scientists.
