Ior Bock [i: or bok] (actually Bror Holger Svedlin ; born January 17, 1942 , † October 23, 2010 ) was a Swedish-speaking Finnish eccentric , travel guide, actor and myth inventor.

Life

Bock began his career as a small actor at the Swedish Theater in Helsinki. From 1973 to 1998 he worked as a tourist guide on the island of Suomenlinna , where he gave guided tours of the local medieval castle, which soon became very popular.

In 1984 he aroused great public interest by claiming to be the custodian of an ancient culture that gave insight into Finland's pagan traditions. With his family saga, "the history of all mankind" can be explained. In addition to the mythical Lemminkäinen , a legend from the Finnish national epic Kalevala , a hero of the family saga is a "Necklas" who travels across the country on a team of reindeer. These stories are known as the Bock Saga.

Entrance to the alleged "Lemminkäinen Temple".

In 1987, Bock began excavations in his hometown of Sipoo in search of an ancient temple dedicated to Lemminkäinen . The construction company Lemminkäinen and the Sparkasse von Sipoo initially financed the excavations. A large cave was found, but no temple and no archaeological objects.

On October 23, 2010, Ior Bock, who was paralyzed by an earlier knife attack, was killed by several knife stabs at the age of 68. A 29-year-old Bocks assistant was arrested, found not guilty in court in 2011 and deported to his home country, India.

The Bock saga

According to Bock saga, there were the people of Asher , who lived according to legend for millions of years in a country called Odenmaa. In the midst of this land there is said to have been a city called Hel, which was built on seven hills and seven islands. On one of these islands, Odenso, the temple of Heligedom was located on the hill Lysnarberriet. In this temple there is said to have been a point that was on the exact North Pole. He was called Valhalla. The Aser produced another people, the Vaner. According to Ior Bock, these colonized the rest of the world.

The earth is said to have been free of ice at this time until the earth's axis, which was exactly vertical until then, tilted 50 million and 10028 years ago and caused an ice age. However, Odenmaa remained ice-free and the people survived. When the ice receded again, they would have made contact with other peoples again and brought them their culture.
