Irene Palaiologina (Byzantium)

Irene Palaiologina († around 1391 ) was the wife of the Byzantine emperor Matthaios Asanes Kantakuzenos .

Irene was the daughter of Demetrios Palaiologos and his wife Theodora. Her paternal grandparents were Andronikos II (Byzantium) and his wife Yolande von Montferrat . Irene married Matthaios Asanes Kantakuzenos ( Byzantine Emperor ) from 1353 to 1357 and Despot of Morea from 1380 to 1383). They had five children:
