Iris Zero ( Japanese ア イ リ ス zero ) is a manga series by author Piroshiki and illustrator Takana Hotaru . It was released in Japan from 2009 to 2018 and can be classified into the genres of his own , science fiction , mystery , romance and drama.

In a world where almost all children and young people have a supernatural ability, Toru Mizushima ( 水 島 透 ) is one of the few without a special gift. While the others can see into the future, the past or otherwise extraordinary with their Iris ability, the Iris Zero Toru is worried about being bullied by the others. That's why he tries to be as inconspicuous as possible and to have such a peaceful everyday school life. He only has close contact with his childhood friend Hijiri Shinozuka ( 篠 塚 聖 ). But one day, Koyuki Sasamori ( 佐 々 森 小雪 ) comes up to him, a pretty and popular girl. She is looking for a new student representative, but despite her iris she can not find one. Toru is supposed to help her with his impartiality as Iris Zero. But Koyuki's closeness brings him the attention he tries to avoid, and soon his problems with other students begin.

Although Toru actually wants to stay away from Koyuki, Koyuki does not give up. And Toru has to come to her aid when she is threatened by other students. Koyuki's friend Asahi Yuki ( 結 城 あ さ ひ ) also declines close contact with Toru, but soon becomes another reason that Toru is asked for help when she is expelled from school for misconduct. Koyuki recognizes that it is Toru's strength that he does not rely on an iris, and so she keeps asking him for advice.

The manga was published in Japan in April 2009 in Gekkan Comic Alive magazine by Media Factory . The publication was interrupted from 2014 to 2016. In September 2018 the story finally came to an end. The publisher also brought out the chapters in eight volumes. On February 23, 2012, Edge Records released a radio play about the manga on CD. A second radio play followed on March 22, 2014 as an addition to the 6th anthology.

A German translation of the series was published by Kazé Germany from October 2012 to July 2020 . An English version was published by Digital Manga Publishing and a French version by Doki-Doki.
