Media Factory ( Japanese 株式会社 メ デ ィ ア フ ァ ク ト リ ー , Kabushiki kaisha Media Fakutorī , English Media Factory, Inc. ) is a Japanese magazine and computer game publisher.
history
The company was founded on December 1, 1986 under the name Recruit Shuppan ( リ ク ル ー ト 出版 ) as a spin-off of the book publishing business of KK Recruit . The company adopted its current name on April 1, 1991. On November 15, 2011, the Kadokawa Group Holdings took over the Kadokawa Shoten publishing house , making Media Factory a 100% subsidiary.
Program and products
In addition to the literary magazine Da Vinci , which has been published since 1994 , Media Factory mainly publishes light novels under the imprint of MF Bunko J ( MF 文庫 J ; since 2002) and manga with magazines such as Gekkan Comic Flapper (since 1999), Gekkan Comic Alive ( 月刊 コ ミ ッ クア ラ イ ブ ; since 2006) and Gekkan Comic Gene ( 月刊 コ ミ ッ ク ジ ー ン ; since 2011). The anthologies appear under the imprint MF Comics ( MF コ ミ ッ ク ス ). Many of these works have also been adapted as anime series, including:

In addition, Media Factory also produces anime that do not come from its own publishing program but from competing publishers.
In terms of computer games, Media Factory published, among other things, the game series Culdcept and Ribbit King , which also appeared outside of Japan.
In addition, Media Factory operates as a music publisher through several labels: Fabtone Records for British rock music and Radtone Music for western punk bands for the Japanese market; Goontrax ; XtalRecords ; and Pikachu Records for music for the Pokémon franchise.
