action

Samatarō Kamiyama is God's son and lives with his family in the human world. This is to guarantee that if one day he succeeds his father he will be a good God. His best friend is Tenko, who is also his guardian angel, grows up with him and goes to the same school. So he spends a carefree life with his family and even seems a bit bored. Until one day a new student attended the same class with Kumiko Komori. As a result, Samatarō falls head over heels in love with her. However, she blocks his first advances immediately, which is a completely new experience for Samatarō - the Son of God. He sees this as a special challenge and wants to win her heart without the help of his family. He asks Tenko for support.

When several advances fail due to interventions by his family, Samatarō demands that his family transform him into an ordinary person. However, he is not prepared for the consequences of his actions and, above all, has to painfully discover that Tenko has also disappeared. Frustrated by his life as an ordinary person, as Kumiko has also left school, he seeks consolation in a shop for special gifts that Tenko had previously greatly admired. In him he meets a person who is very similar to Tenko and who wants to help him talk to Kumiko again. This person turns out to be a Tenko and it turns out that his father has not really withdrawn his divine power from him.

While Samatarō's friend Shinichi thinks he has found the girl of his dreams in a hospital, Tenko behaves extremely strangely. It turns out that Tenko is hiding a baby and suggests that Samatarō is the father. The girl with the name Ai grows up much faster than an ordinary baby and gives Samatarō and Tenko a number of problems. When Ai is almost grown up, Shinichi's crush and Ai meet and it turns out that they both knew each other earlier, but Ai was killed in an accident. After this riddle has been solved, the relationship between Samatarō and Tenko, who had already moved strongly towards each other because of the "common child", seems to heat up.

It is precisely in this situation that Tenko receives the order to return to heaven, since she has fulfilled her duties towards Samatarō. It is much worse for Tenko that Kumiko also shows up at the school. Frustrated by this situation, Tenko spends most of the time deep in thought in the bed of her locked room. The archangel Suguru appears to her, who asks her emphatically to return to heaven. However, he grants her three more days. Meanwhile, Samatarō follows Kumiko home and meets her supposedly sick mother Fumiko. Tenko spies on them and finds out that Fumiko is really a devil and needs Kumiko to be able to feed on fresh souls.

When Tenko manages to explain the situation to the boy and Kumiko himself admits to being the daughter of a devil, it is almost too late for Samatarō and his family. The devil is unstoppable for the family members. Ultimately, however, Samatarō still manages to hunt down the devil with a trick and Tenko's help. Kumiko, who was once born as an angel, then turns back into an angel and has lived in Samatarō's house ever since. Meanwhile, Samatarō and Tenko have finally found each other and Tenko gets permission from the archangel to stay on earth.

Characters

main characters

Samatarō Kamiyama ( 神山 佐 間 太郎 , Kamiyama Samatarō )
Samatarō is the blue-eyed, blue-haired son of God ( Kami ) and a goddess (Megami), who is supposed to study humanity on earth. Samatarō does not yet seem to have full control over his powers, even though he is able to communicate telepathically in his chibi form and display other abilities irregularly. Basically, Samatarō is kind-hearted, considerate towards other people, and able to show courage and determination. But he is very ashamed of his family's antics.
Tenko ( テ ン コ , Tenko )
Tenko is a red-eyed, red-haired angel who was called to earth when Samatarō was born to be his protector until he would be able to go his own way. Since Tenko appeared in the shape of a newborn and she grew up with the boy, over time she developed feelings for him. However, this does not prevent her from acting as his conscience and occasionally punishing him for what she sees as wrongdoing. Despite her great willpower and correctness, Tenko is in some ways naive as a child and she seems to lack basic knowledge of general human interactions.
Kumiko Komori ( 小森 久 美 子 , Komori Kumiko )
Kumiko is a slim, beautiful girl with black hair and dark eyes, who temporarily goes to Samatarō's and Tenko's class as an exchange student and becomes his first love. After falling victim to some of the emotional impacts of Misa and Meme, she develops real feelings for Samatarō. When she is later transferred to school again, she tries to build a closer relationship with him.

Supporting characters

Osamu Kamiyama ( 神山 治 , Kamiyama Osamu )
Osamu, the reigning god, is the father of Misa, Samatarō and Meme, as well as the husband of Venus. He is portrayed as an older man who is both playful and a loving husband and father, even if he shows this in a rather peculiar way. When he is doing his work in heaven, his main role seems to be to make people's wishes come true. Since Osamu tends to overdo it with fulfilling his son's wishes, he and Tenko repeatedly embarrassed. From the moment his son makes it clear that he wants to stand on his own two feet, Osamu seems to withdraw to his workplace.
Venus Kamiyama ( 神山 ビ ー ナ ス , Kamiyama Venus )
Venus is the mother of Misa, Samatarō and Meme and the wife of Osamu. The goddess of love appears in the form of a beautiful woman who does not behave according to her age and plays around with her children and husband. She always manages to bring her son Samatarō into embarrassing situations, because she likes to dress up and does not shy away from a certain nudity. Venus also seems to have a slight complex about her age and appearance. Despite her crazy personality traits, Venus is very flexible, soulful and wise when it is necessary.
Misa Kamiyama ( 神山 美 佐 , Kamiyama Misa )
Misa is the oldest child (so far known) of Osamu and Venus, and the older sister of Samatarō and Meme. Misa is almost ready to rise to the rank of goddess and already controls most of her powers. One of their specialties is influencing people's emotions. Outside of her home, Misa portrays the image of a sweet, deliberately reserved girl and has a certain following. This is in contrast to the fact that men, e.g. Sometimes referred to as 'dregs' because she believes that all men think the same way. At home, she seems to be walking around mostly in food and underwear, enjoying teasing her little brother and Tenko. She repeatedly participates in Venus and Osamus antics to laugh at Samatarō's expense, while she remains untouched by these antics.
Meme Kamiyama ( 神山 メ メ , Kamiyama Meme )
Meme is the youngest child of Osamu and Venus. Like Misa, Meme is a contender for goddess status and, despite her young age, already controls some of her powers. In addition, like Misa, she is very skilled at controlling people's emotions. Meme usually appears to be emotionless and very adult for her age, but is a child nonetheless.
Shin'ichi Kurishima ( 霧 島 進 一 , Kurishima Shin'ichi )
Shin'ichi is Samatarō's and Tenko's school friend who is crazy about girls and always spices up his conversations with English phrases when he's excited. He is especially common when talking about girls. His friends see him as an idiot who is not bad in character.
Fumiko Komori ( 小森 フ ミ コ , Komori Fumiko )
Fumiko Komori is a female devil and the mother of Kumiko. She cheats on her only child by pretending that she needs the energy of human souls in order not to lose her youth and strength. In reality, it aims to make her daughter a devil inside too. She shows no emotions towards Kumiko and intends to use their help to capture Samatarō. Fumiko himself was once an angel who fell in love with a mortal man and gave birth to Kumiko with him. The mortal, however, turned his back on both of them when he noticed Kumiko's angelic origins. This broke Fumiko's heart and she turned into a devil.
Suguru ( ス グ ル , Suguru )
Suguru claims of himself to be an archangel. Suguru appears as a piggy bank that can fly and unwillingly pronounces the amount it contains or gets in addition. According to him, he chose this form of appearance so as not to draw too much attention to himself. He seems to be annoyed about being addressed as a "pig", especially since he is said to be the most handsome archangel. At the end of the anime, it is implied that Suguru is Tenko's father, but has chosen not to reveal it yet.
