Lenses and filters from Irix

Irix lenses are lenses for high-resolution DSLRs (digital mirror reflex cameras ), developed by the Swiss company TH Swiss AG, founded in Baar in 2015, and produced in South Korea.

The following three focal lengths have been sold since 2016:

  • 11mm f4 as Firefly and Blackstone
  • 15mm f2.4 as Firefly and Blackstone
  • 150mm f2.8, image scale 1: 1 (Macro), honored with the RedDot Award

The lenses are available for Canon, Nikon F and Pentax K bayonet connections. Due to the size of the lens, gel filters are offered for the 11 and 15mm lenses, which are to be attached behind the lens.

The difference between the Firefly and Blackstone versions is mainly the case material and therefore the weight. The same glass quality is used for both versions.

In addition to the diaphragm labels for setting the hyperfocal distance, the lenses also offer a “click position” in the infinity position of the focus ring.

The imaging performance in the edge areas of the two wide-angle lenses is criticized. The corners show blurry-looking details and shifted color fringes. The general good imaging performance of the lenses is emphasized.
