Irma Rosenberg Prize

The Irma Rosenberg Prize (Vienna Prize for Research into the History of National Socialism) is an award created in 2010, jointly awarded by the Institute for Contemporary History at the University of Vienna , the Austrian Society for Contemporary History, the Department of Culture of the City of Vienna and the Federal Ministry of Science and Research is awarded.

The award, named after the social democratic activist Irma Rosenberg , is divided into a main prize for outstanding publications and academic achievements and a recognition prize for dissertations. The award is given to works “which focus on the history of National Socialism in the context of the academic examination of violence, dictatorships and genocides, the persecution by the Nazi regime for racist reasons, the National Socialist mass murder, the persecution of political opponents or strategies and forms of resistance . "

The main prize is awarded 4,000 euros and is donated by the City of Vienna, the up to two recognition prizes are endowed with 2,000 euros each by the Federal Ministry of Science and Research and the Austrian Society for Contemporary History.
