Irving Kenneth Zola
Irving Kenneth Zola ( 1935 - 1994 ) was an American activist and author in the field of medical sociology and the disability movement . He was a founding member of the Society of Disability Studies and the first editor of the Disability Studies Quarterly . He was also a founding member and advisor to the Boston Self-Help Center.
His best-known book, first published in 1982, is Missing Pieces: A Chronicle of Living With a Disability .
The Dr. The Irving Kenneth Zola Collection, a collection containing most of Zola's works, is located in the Samuel Gridley Howe Library at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. Zola had taught at Brandeis University since 1963.
