Isabel de Mowbray

Isabel de Mowbray (* after 1400; † September 27, 1452 in Gloucester ) was an English noblewoman.

Isabel de Mowbray was the second daughter of Thomas Mowbray, 1st Duke of Norfolk and his second wife, Elizabeth FitzAlan, daughter of Richard FitzAlan, 11th Earl of Arundel . Her father was banished by King Richard II in 1398 and died in exile in 1399. Just before July 13, 1416, Isabel was married to Henry Ferrers, the eldest son of William Ferrers, 5th Baron Ferrers of Groby . However, her husband died before his father around 1423. In their second marriage, Isabel married in 1423 or 1424 the also widowed James Berkeley, 1st Baron Berkeley . Her husband led an inheritance dispute over his inheritance that degenerated into an open feud against the Earl of Shrewsbury in 1450 . Isabel was captured in 1451 by Margaret, Countess of Shrewsbury , the earl's wife. She died in captivity and was buried in Gloucester Franciscan Church.
