Isi |
Isi (also Izi ) was an Egyptian civil servant who worked at the end of the 5th and 6th Dynasties around 2300 BC. Officiated in Edfu .
supporting documents
This official was buried in a mastaba in Edfu , which is right next to the city. There is also a biography that tells of his career under different kings. However, this inscription is badly damaged and difficult to reconstruct. Isi was one of the first officials with the title " Head of a Gau ". In the First Intermediate Period, this title became the most important title of the Gaufürsten .
Its meaning
Izi became a local saint after his death, especially in the Second Intermediate Period . Many people set up steles at his grave, in whose sacrificial formula Isi was worshiped like a god. Here he is also referred to as a vizier , although he probably never wore this title during his lifetime.
