Isla de Cañas (Municipality)

Isla de Cañas is a municipality (Municipio) in the Iruya Department in the Sierra de Santa Victoria in northwest Argentina . It includes the towns of Isla de Cañas , Limoncito , Río Cortaderas , Tres Morros and San Ignacio . The municipal administration is located in the village of the same name, Isla de Cañas.

1700 inhabitants live in the municipality. The population lives primarily from raising small livestock.

Isla de Cañas is located at an altitude of about 780 m. The municipality has an area of ​​1200 km². The Iruya River flows through the area in an easterly direction.
