The Islamic University College Ghana (German Islamic University of Ghana) (IUCG for short) in East Legon, Accra is a university college that is affiliated with the University of Ghana and the Islamic College for Advanced Studies in London . It is the first Islamic university in sub-Saharan West Africa.

history

As early as 1988, the first courses in Islamic theology began at what is now the IUCG under the former name of Ahlul Bait Islamic School. This training center was funded and financed by the Ahlul Bait Foundation from Iran . In 2001 the university college was initially granted provisional approval, followed by final approval in 2002.

aims

The goals of the IUCG are the training of women and men according to Islamic values ​​in order to take up leading positions in Ghana and above all in the Islamic society within Ghana. Religious understanding and the dialogue between religions should be promoted. Young people are to be trained and act according to Islamic values ​​for administration, banking, business and legal professions.

Faculties

The IUCG has already set up two faculties: In the Faculty of Business Administration, the Bachelor in Business Administration can be obtained. A Bachelor in Islamic Religious Studies can be taken in the Faculty of Religious Studies.
