Isochrony (spectroscopy)

In nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, isochrony ( Greek : isos - equal ; chronos - time ) is the property of nuclei to have the same chemical shift . Chemically equivalent protons are always isochronous, i.e. they have the same chemical shift. However, the fact that two protons have the same chemical shift, i.e. they are isochronous, does not necessarily mean that they are chemically equivalent to one another.
