Isolux diagram

An isolux diagram (from Greek iso "equal" and diagramma "geometric figure" and Latin lux "light") shows the distribution of brightness on a surface. For this purpose, points of equal light intensity / brightness (isoluxes / isophots) are connected with isolines .

Isolux diagrams are used for lighting planning. In the development of luminaires and illuminants , a desired brightness distribution and strength for a particular application is aimed for. With the Isolux diagram, the suitability of a light source or luminaire can now be checked by the lighting designer.
