Israel Contreras

Israel Contreras (* 27. December 1960 in La Guaira , Venezuela ) is a former Venezuelan boxer in the bantamweight .

Professional career

In 1981 he successfully started his professional career. On February 3, 1989, he boxed against Maurizio Lupino for the world championship title of the association WBO and won by classic knockout in round 1. The following year he defended this belt against Ray Minus and then put it down.

On October 19, 1991 he competed against Luisito Espinosa for the WBA world title and won in the 5th round by knockout. However, he lost the title in his first title defense the following year to Eddie Cook by classic knockout.

In 1995 he ended his career.
