Israeli (newspaper)

Israeli ( Hebrew: ישראלי, literally Israeli ) was a Hebrew-speaking , Israeli newspaper that it for free at train stations, bus stations and Delek was fueling stations. Based on the concept of the free daily Metro , it was aimed at a young, urban and mobile audience. It first appeared in 2006, initially for a short time under the title Israeli News .

The newspaper was owned by Sheldon Adelson and Hirsch Media (owned by Schlomo Ben Zwi ). The original budget was estimated at $ 35 million over three to four years. The goal was to become Israel's No. 2 newspaper behind Jedi'ot Acharonot . However, Adelson retired as the main funder in 2007 due to differences of opinion. With the establishment of the similarly conceived free newspaper Israel HaYom by Adelson in the same year, Israelis were quickly pushed out of the market. In January 2008 the newspaper was discontinued.
