István Szentpáli Gavallér

István Szentpáli Gavallér (born July 26, 1947 in Debrecen ) is a Hungarian violinist.

Life

At the age of five, István Szentpáli was selected for the early support project for the musically gifted at the Conservatory in Debrecen and began studying the violin with Gustav Mikulai. After the Hungarian uprising in 1956 this project was ended and he received further training in the local state music school . At the age of twelve he was admitted to the Zoltán Kodály Conservatory in Debrecen. At the age of 17, after having passed the Abitur, István Szentpáli enrolled at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Debrecen and continued his training with his teacher Szabó Ernö. At the age of 21 he obtained his violin teacher diploma with distinction after successfully passing two state exams. His training as a soloist was then continued in Germany, first at the Hanover University of Music and Drama with Werner Heutling, then at the Würzburg University of Music with Boris Goldstein . Here he obtained his “master class diploma”.

From 1968–69 Gavallér was 1st violinist at the Schwerin State Symphony Orchestra , 1969–71 section leader of the 2nd violins at the Siegerland Orchestra , 1971–2012 at the Lower Saxony State Orchestra first 2nd violinist, then 1st violinist, and from 1978 section leader of the 2nd violin orchestra Violins.

In addition, he was concertmaster and soloist of the Festival Orchestra in Bad Hersfeld for 5 years, concertmaster and soloist of the Bückeburger Bach Orchestra for 3 years, lecturer at the Hanover University of Music and Theater for orchestral projects for 3 years and a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra for 21 years. Gavallér also worked as a freelancer for the NDR Symphony Orchestra and the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover.

Johann Strauss Orchestra Hanover

István Szentpáli founded the Johann Strauss Orchestra Hanover for the first New Year's concert in 1993 in the Hanover State Opera, with which he has conducted the New Year's Concerts 14 times in a row at the Hanover State Opera. The concerts of the Johann Strauss Orchestra Hanover are not only conducted by István Szentpáli, he also appears as a violin soloist. Guest performances with the Lower Saxony State Orchestra in Hanover have taken him to other European countries and the USA.
