It's Not Unusual is a song written by Les Reed and Gordon Mills in 1965 . In the version sung by Tom Jones , the song became an internationally known hit and a number one hit in the English charts. In the United States, the song peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary chart. It's Not Unusual was Jones' first chart success and became his signature song.

The song has been used as a score in several films , including Edward Scissorhands and Mars Attacks! , in which Jones had a minor supporting role. The song also gained renown again in the 90s through a performance on the sitcom The Prince of Bel-Air .

The song has been covered several times, for example by The Supremes , Florence Ballard and Cher .
