Italian Embassy in Madrid
The Italian Embassy in Madrid is the diplomatic representation of Italy in Spain . It is located in the north-east of Madrid city center in the Salamanca district on Calle de Lagasca and Calle Juan Bravo , Palacio de Amboage .
history
Until 1936, the Italian embassy was located in the Palacio de Abrantes on Calle Mayor ( ⊙ ), not far from the Palacio Real . Towards the end of the civil war , Italy acquired the Palacio Amboage, which was built during the First World War , in the new development area in the northeast of the city in 1939 . The impressive city palace was designed by the architect Joaquín Rojí for the very wealthy Marquis de Amboage. After the embassy moved, the Italian cultural institute Madrid was established in the Palacio de Abrantes .
Both the office and the residence of the ambassador are located in the current embassy building. In the representative rooms of the embassy, a number of works of art are on display that either belong to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or have been loaned by various Italian museums.
