Iulius Placidus
Iulius Placidus was a Roman military tribune .
During the Four Imperial Year of 69 AD, Placidus served on the staff of Mark Antony Primus in Vespasian's army . Tacitus reports that it was Placidus who, when Rome was captured by the Flavians , led the raiding party as tribunus cohortis that advanced to the palace of Vitellius . He arrested the emperor and led him through the streets of Rome, torturing Vitellius and exposing him to the abuse of the plebs . A soldier of Vitellius, who wanted to come to his master's aid, cut off Placidus' ear.
