Ivöleden is a car ferry on the lake Ivösjön in the Swedish province County Skåne belonging municipality Kristianstad .

The ferry is the only public transport connection to Ivö Island , the largest island in the province. It drives from Barum to the west coast of the island. The distance to be covered is 720 meters, a journey takes about seven minutes and is free of charge. It is also driven at night, whereby the cycle is then reduced.

history

Until the late 19th century there was no regular ferry service to Ivö, but it was then started. A motorboat was in use from 1918, and a ferry was acquired in 1944. The first steel ship has been sailing since 1957. Today's Karna ferry has been on the route since 1987. The name of the ship is reminiscent of a woman named Karna who lived from 1875 to 1935 and who translated people to Ivö.
