Ivo
Ivo is a male given name and a family name .
Origin and meaning
The name has been documented in Norman England and France since the High Middle Ages ( Ivo von Chartres , born around 1040). Saint Ivo (died 1303, later the patron saint of Brittany ) contributed significantly to the spread . The meaning is derived from the Germanic word * (e) iwa- " Eibe , Bogen ". There is also a derivation from an equivalent Gallic Ivo , documented as the first syllable in names such as Ivorix , Ivomagus .
In South Slavic is Ivo a variant of Ivan / Ivan ( John ).
