Ivo Michael Beale Neame (born March 13, 1981 in Kent ) is a British jazz musician ( piano and saxophone ).

Live and act

Neame comes from the English brewery family Shepherd Neame . He studied at the King's School in Canterbury and then (in the same year as the pianist Gwilym Simcock ) jazz saxophone at the Royal Academy of Music in London. His mentors were Martin Speake and Steve Buckley , as well as F-IRE Collective founder Barack Schmool. Since then Neame has worked a. a. with Guy Barker , Julian Siegel , Stan Sulzmann , Matthew Herbert , Jim Mullen and Tim Garland . With his trio he has performed at numerous jazz festivals and clubs such as the Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club and the Vortex Jazz Club . Since 2009 he has been a member of the Phronesis Trio (with Jasper Høiby and Anton Eger ), with whom he has released several albums and also performed with the hr big band .

Neames debut album under his own name Swirls and Eddies was released in 2007; performing musicians were Phil Donkin (bass) and George Hart (drums). Jim Hart (vibraphone), Jasper Høiby (bass) and James Maddren (drums) played on his second album Caught in the Light of Day (2009) . In 2010 Neame was involved in Jasper Hoiby's album Alive , which was nominated in 2010 by the magazines Jazzwize and Mojo as "Album of the Year". He leads his own quartet; he is also a member of the London Loop Collective . He recorded with the formations Gemini and Kairos 4tet as well as with the Andy Davies Quartet, Kaz Simmons , Dave Mannington and Brigitte Beraha .
