Jasper Høiby (born May 10, 1977 ) is a Danish jazz musician ( double bass , composition).

Live and act

Høiby first had double bass lessons in Denmark before moving to London in 2000, where he studied at the Royal Academy of Music until 2004 and played in the local jazz scene. He was a member of the Loop Collective , which resulted in the collaboration with Ivo Neame . He also worked with Jim Hart , Mark Lockheart and Julia Biel . In 2005 Høiby founded the Trio Phronesis ; In 2007 he presented the album Organic Warfare with this trio, which at the time consisted of Magnus Hjorth and Anton Eger , which was followed by further productions by 2020 - now with Ivo Neame and Anton Eger. As a musician and composer he also worked with Jez Franks ' Compassionate Dictatorship, the Kairos 4tet (with Adam Waldmann , Ivo Neame, Jon Scott ) and the Sam Crowe Group. In the field of jazz he was involved in 26 recording sessions between 2001 and 2019, including a. also with Mark Lockheart , Jim Hart, Marius Neset . At the Royal Academy he is a professor for jazz bass.
