Ivo (musician)

Ivo (* 1969 in Basel ; bourgeois Ivo Sidler ) is a Swiss pop-rock musician.

Life

Shortly after his birth, Ivo's parents moved to the 6500-strong community of Stans in Central Switzerland, where he spent his childhood. His musical career began early: he received piano lessons at the age of five. In addition to the piano, he devoted himself to drums and guitar and played in various cover bands. Little by little he began to compose and sing his own songs.

In March 2000, Klaus “Major” Heuser from BAP finally received a demo CD from Ivo and then signed him to his own record label HDD . Two years later Ivo traveled to the United States of America to record his debut All in All with Neil Dorfsman (producer of Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan among others ) in Woodstock , New York . In the same year he accompanied Lisa Stansfield on her European tour as a supporting act and thus played for the first time on the big stages of Europe.

Just one year later, Ivo Shakira supported the entire 2003 Tour of the Mongoose European tour .

The singles New Day (2003 / Top 20) and She's the Reason (2006 / Top 20) were both among the most played Swiss songs in the year of their respective releases. New Day also reached the top 100 in the German airplay charts, while a total of six other single releases were high in the Swiss airplay charts, such as All in All (2003 / Top 40), I Will (2003 / Top 80), Right Now (2004 / Top 40), Somebody New (2006 / Top 60) and Hold On (2006 / Top 30).

In January 2009 IVO released the new album, Live & Acoustic , which was recorded in April 2008 during a performance in the Casineum Club in the Grand Casino Lucerne. The single I Will Bleed for You (2009 / Top 70) has enjoyed a lot of airplay on almost all Swiss radio stations since its release in January 2009. On May 1, 2009, the accompanying live DVD Live & Acoustic was also released.

In July 2009 IVO became the first Swiss to win the renowned Baltic Song Contest in Sweden.
