Ivo Belet

Ivo Belet (born June 7, 1959 in Sint-Truiden ) is a Belgian politician for the Christian Democratic Party in Vlaams (CD&V). He has been a member of the European Parliament since 2004 .

Life

Belet studied German at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and graduated in 1981 with a licentiate . He then went to study at the Limburgs Universitair Centrum (LUC), the predecessor of today's Hasselt University in Diepenbeek There, he acquired a Bachelor in Economics (1988) and a Master of Business Administration in the field of marketing (1996). As an intern , he worked at both the European Parliament and the European Commission .

In 1989, Belet went to the Dutch- speaking broadcaster VRT as a journalist . On June 13, 2004, Belet was elected as a member of the European Parliament and was confirmed in office in the 2009 European elections . He is a member of the Group of the European People's Party and European Democrats , as well as the Committee on Culture and Education and the Delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia.

Belet lives in Hasselt , is married and has two children.

Belet is Vice-Chair of the Delegation for Relations with the Countries of Southeast Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and a member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy .
