Ivica Tončev (born November 17, 1968 in Niš ) is a Serbian politician.

Life

Tončev completed elementary and middle school education in his hometown Surdulica and graduated from the University of Megatrend in Belgrade .

Tončev has been actively involved in politics in Serbia since the time the Socialist Party of Serbia was in opposition. Since 2008 he has carried out some high state obligations, the most important of which was the role of National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of Serbia. Tončev is one of the main advisors to the leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia, Ivica Dačić . He is currently his special advisor in the Cabinet of the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Serbia. Before he became actively involved in politics, Tončev achieved a lot in the areas of private business in Austria, where one of his domiciles is still located today.

From November 2012 to the summer of 2015 Ivica Tončev was the deputy president of the soccer club FK Red Star Belgrade . During this period they also achieved the championship title (2013/14 season).

In 2013, he faced allegations that his university diploma was not valid, but after investigation by state bodies it turned out that this is not true.

Ivica Tončev has been State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia since 2016. He is the president of FK Radnički Niš .

Ivica Tončev is married and has three children. He is also known in public as a close friend of Srdjan Đoković, father of tennis player Novak Đoković .
