Järnvägsbyggnadsstaten

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Järnvägsbyggnadsstaten was a Swedish government agency responsible for the supervision, construction and maintenance of the state's railway buildings.

The authority was established by King Oskar I , who appointed Colonel Nils Ericson as head of the authority on January 22, 1855. He held this position until his resignation in 1862.

In 1863 the name of the authority was changed to Styrelsen öfver statens järnvägsbyggnader ( German  Administration of State Railway Buildings ). Since in the following years construction activity at the main railways in Sweden had progressed well, except for the Stambanan genom övre Norrland , the authority was ordered to be dissolved.

This was done so that in 1883 the duties on the och vattenbyggnadskåren Väg- ( German  Waterways and corps ) imputed Väg- och vattenbyggnadsstyrelsen ( German  Department of Public Works ), which was responsible for building and traffic, went over and from October 1 1888 (according to another source already on June 1, 1888) Kungliga Järnvägsstyrelsen , which later became Sveriges Statsbanor .
